Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

in What we're testing

You can get all my newest conversion test results by subscribing to my RSS feed. Speak to you soon!

What’s is going to help me convert more visitors into subscribers? That’s the golden question whenever you’re testing squeeze pages.

Here’s what we’ve got…

A black background, a yellow background and some “flare”…

This next test I’m planning is for a website I’m using as a test-bed for a lot of my own conversion testing. It’s a website I created earlier in 2008 to promote John Delavera’s Turbo Membership.

Here’s how it looks right now…
http://BigMarketingSecretsBook.com

So far it’s generated nearly $2k in recurring affiliate commissions since it was launched. It’s converting *hamburger traffic at around 38% into fresh subscribers for this offer. That’s not too bad in terms of conversion stats, but it can go higher with more testing and tracking!

*Hamburger traffic = traffic with a small amount of targeting, you can usually get lots of it but it doesn’t always convert that well.

I’ve not done anything with this site for the past few months so decided it was about tome to “up the anti” and see if I can shake up the stats and boost the numbers some more.

So here’s what I decided to do…

This first version changes the background color to black getting away from the very bright yellow we had before…

version1 Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

Then in version 2 I’m removing the “flare”…

version2 Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

Just in case you’re wondering what the “heck” a flare is it’s this…

flare Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

Then we have version 3 of the test with the flare and the yellow background…

version3 Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

And not forgetting the control version…

version4 Black, Yellow or Some Well Placed Flare?

In a few days time I’ll begin the testing and I’ll reveal another part of the site that’s also being tested at the same time. This other part is one many people just don’t bother with when in fact it can make a big difference to the success of your final results.

By the way when I get the testing started I’ll let you know and show you a few more screen shots so you can see how it’s going.

I almost forgot to mention… I’ll be using Google Website Optimizer for these A/B style split tests.
